Though we’re just getting to know Demetria McKinney as a star on Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7, this multi-talented gal has been in the entertainment industry for many years. And much of her success can be attributed to one very big household name: Mr. Tyler Perry.
The actress-singer got her start in a number of his productions, most notably a six-year run on the TBS sitcom, House of Payne, as C.J. Payne’s wife, Janine. It was on that very set that Demetria met her longtime beau, entertainment mogul (and Tyler collaborator) Roger Bobb!
Clearly, Mr. Perry has been a big part of Demetria’s life, so when Wetpaint Entertainment chatted exclusively with the RHoA newbie recently, we had to get her take on his recent announcement that he’s about to become a father. As a parent herself, what kind of dad does Demetria think Tyler will be?
“I think he’ll be a good dad, because he has faced a lot of adversity and still continues to,” she mused, before sharing some of her own motherly wisdom.
“Children never come out the way you expect. You can look at a sonogram and see a face and know if it’s a boy or a girl, but you don’t know what kind of personality or characteristics or mindset that baby is going to grow into having. And as long as he can adapt to who that baby is, the same way he has adapted to this industry, he’ll be great.”
Though she says she hasn’t yet been able to meet Tyler’s girlfriend (and baby mama) Gelila Bekele, Demetria is very happy for the expectant parents. However, she’s still a little unsure of what kind of baby gift to give the movie bigwig.
“What do you get the man who has everything?” she joked, before adding, “I am going to get him some extra diapers and some formula, because you can never have too much.” Well put!
Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7 premieres November 9 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
